ABOVE LEFT: A view over the Old Town.

ABOVE RIGHT: The Municipal House, built in 1905-11 as a concert hall and exhibition space. The creation of an independent state of Czechoslovakia was proclaimed here in 1918.
ABOVE LEFT: The Storch house, an old mansion decorated with paintings of St Wenceslas.

ABOVE CENTER: The Powder Gate, one of the entrances to the Old Town.

ABOVE RIGHT: Looking down from the tower of the Old Town Hall.
ABOVE LEFT: The Old Town Hall, established in 1338. The tower was built in 1364.

ABOVE CENTER: The 16th century astronomical clock on the wall of the Old Town Hall, showing the time according to three different systems of measurement plus the positions of the sun and moon in the zodiac.

ABOVE RIGHT: Looking up at the tower and the adjoining chapel.
ABOVE LEFT: An Art Nouveau building from 1898 in Old Town Square, which now houses a government ministry. The statues on the roof depict heroic fire-fighters. The building to the right is now a restaurant, but has a 16th century façade.

ABOVE RIGHT: A wider view of Old Town Square, with the monument to 15th century religious reformer (and now Czech national hero) Jan Hus near the bottom.
ABOVE: Two views of the Church of Our Lady before Týn.
ABOVE: Two views over the city towards the Castle, with the spires of St Vitus's Cathedral rising above it.
ABOVE LEFT: The Jan Hus monument and Old Town Hall.

ABOVE RIGHT: The mosaic of The Last Judgement above the Golden Portal, which until the 19th century was the main entrance to St Vitus's Cathedral. It is now only used on special occasions.
LEFT: The bell tower of St Vitus's Cathedral. Because it is within the Castle walls, there are other buildings all around the Cathedral which make it virtually impossible to get far enough back to show the whole thing in a single photograph.

There is a good view from the top of the tower however, although the 287 steps are hard work.
ABOVE LEFT: One of Prague's most famous landmarks, the interesting but horrendously crowded Charles Bridge, seen from the tower at the Little Quarter end.

ABOVE CENTER: The 18th century Church of St Nicholas.

ABOVE RIGHT: Another view of the Powder Gate.
ABOVE LEFT: Looking down into the Castle from the bell tower of St Vitus's Cathedral. The twin white spires and the red façade between them belong to St George's Basilica. You can see from this picture how little space there is around the Cathedral.
